Upheaval
From Yeawa Asabi
Upheaval
(noun) a violent or sudden change or disruption to something.
There is an upheaval within the downpour,
a grounding sustenance;
a transmutation,
all the while,
blanket slating our newest timeline
upgrading our foundation
to,
resilient withholdings
while still;
graceful,
abundant
within the downpour
She blanket slates our new timeline
when our heaven weeps;
there is restoration in her solace,
in her destruction,
in her renewal,
in her becoming,
flooded with what we deem inconvenience,
she prepared our plate for;
reaping,
blessings,
our renewal.
within the downpour
She blanket slates our new timeline
the storm and our tears sway;
yet, they always find a way to the ground,
returning to,
our resting place;
where we build
resilience,
rest,
renewal
within our soils
within the downpour
She blanket slates our new timeline
where we, what feels like, a finally.
where we have finally reached our Mother,
where we have finally reached our upheaval,
where we have finally reached our blessings,
through the upheaval of the downpour.
Within our collective consciousness, I have noticed an up and coming renewal. A new beginning. A fresh start. A conscious commitment to our personal journeys and our purpose(s). Whatever that may mean for you. I wrote this while watching the recent rain storm and flooding within the Pacific Northwest. Witnessing death, flooding, disappointment, uncertainty, loss, and unearthing. If we are deemed to be collectively connected, I’m sure you too have felt this at some point within this 9 year. Rather it be alongside the storm or within the precursor to her arrival, her magnitude, presence, and power is felt internally and externally.
Personally, this 9 year has taught me, I humbly know nothing. Yet, there is so much I have learned within my 27 years of life and still, I’m constantly being humbled, left in turmoil, rejoicing, and everything in between and still left with uncertainty. This poem and this past storm has reminded me that sometimes, everything must be washed away, flooded, and dismembered to begin to come together, to remind us of our blessings, of presence, of the beautiful fragility of this life. At times, everything must be shaken and stirred to see what stays, to see what has a solid foundation, to adjust, to reimagine, to remind our simple yet complex brains and Spirits to believe anything is possible.
That sometimes the tower must fall and we are left with the pieces to build something completely different. To remember we can always start over. To remember we have the option and choice to believe in (blank). To remember we are guests here. To remember that we don’t have to have all the pieces to know what is possible. To remember that through the uncertainty, agony, suffering, pain and the upheaval - When the storm finally passes, we will have the opportunity to see what is left and when the Sun comes again, what will you do then?
As we head into this 1 year, I’m wishing everyone, myself included, a deep instilled faith. A deep instilled knowing and trust that what is meant for you, will find you and you will find it. A deep and instilled knowing that the storm can be our biggest ally in cleansing, in truth, in alignment, and although it may not feel like it in the moment; trust your cover crop, trust your roots, your Spirit, and yourself (especially your inner child) to lead the way forward.
