Sipping coffee on the balcony Somewhere between comforting And stale My tongue is my only witness Birds sing to lovers about the loneliness of night Wind slips between dangling wooden chimes A song more sincere Than the truest choir Down the street someone tries and fails to start their car They try 3 more times, nothing My neighbor, an old woman Moves so slowly, like I’m sure She thought She never would Removing her laundry from the line I wonder how many suitors left Flowers at her door How many friends she lost Before trading her lingerie For the mumu she now calls home A hen walks by with 4 chicks I think I remember Seeing 6 yesterday A new mosquito bite starts to itch I hear my phone ding inside I almost stand to go check but I hear again the bird song and the wind chime and the chickens and the shuffling feet of the old woman and I decide to stay a while longer
I love your poems 😭
